Prosser- It is with great sadness that the family of Loraine Lilly Martindale, 98, announce her passing on June 18, 2019. Loraine passed away peacefully with her kitty Gracie by her side at Prosser Sun Terrace Assisted Living.
Loraine was born in 1920 in Reagan, ND. At the age of 6 the family moved to Alberta Canada. At the age of 15, after losing her father the family moved to Camas, WA. While attending High School, Loraine entered a contest to name the park in the City of Camas. Loraine was selected and won the contest naming the park Crown Z Park. She won a War Bond for her efforts. Loraine attended and graduated from Camas HS. She later met and married Charles Miles Martindale, the love of her life in 1942. Loraine and Charles owned and operated Colombia Crest Poultry Farm, and began raising their 5 children. In 1961 the family relocated the farm to Outlook, WA they operated a poultry farm and grew asparagus. They later retired in 1971. Loraine attended the Liberty Community church.
In their later years, they were loving parents to many foster children. At the age of 78 Loraine volunteered her time at her daughter Rosemary’s classroom and was a grandmother to many-many children in the Grandview area. She sent many hours embroidering gifts for her children and grandchildren.
Loraine is survived by her five children Ed Martindale (Earnestine), John Martindale (Carol), Donna Holbrook (John), Cathy DenBoer (Ron), and Rosemary Waterman (Albert).Also 51 Grand, Great, and Great Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Ben Hochhalter,and Violet McMichael. Numerous Nieces and Nephews, and her kitty Gracie.
Loraine is proceeded in death by her husband Charles Miles Martindale in 1985, Siblings Hilmer Hochhalter, Carrie Zumalt, and Alvin Hochhalter and her long companion Willy her Dachshund.
There will a viewing at Valley Hills between 4-7:00 PM on Friday, June 21, 2019. Graveside Service will be held June 22, 2019, Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff at Prosser Sun Terrace for her exceptional care.
