In Loving Memory

Lois Ethetwyn (Whiting, Fast) Poe

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother Lois, who left us peacefully on 03/18/2025 with her daughter Barbie at her side. Lois was born on April 17th 1931.

A Journey of Life

Lois was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, and Great Great grandmother, known for her unwavering kindness and generosity. She touched the lives of many through her volunteer work, her profound belief in the lord, and her community involvement.

For many years she taught and helped as a Para Pro for the special needs children at the Sunnyside School District. This was very rewarding for her and the Children loved her kindness and patience.

In the beginning

Born in Greensboro NC, while her father, mother, two sisters, left the cold winters of Wisconsin to try to make a modest living at selling Bibles and folding chairs during the Depression era. She grew up in Appleton WI., with a passion for singing, which led her to the church choir and the High School chorus, and her ultimate dream, of recording a record, White Christmas in 1949. She was an excellent pianist, but singing was her passion.

Young Adult Years

While in HS she met her first Love John Edward Fast and they later married on October 7th In 1950 he set up a house in Menasha WI. They moved to Neenah, and eventually back to Appleton where they raised their 3 children, Danny, Jimmy and Barbie.
