Irene Uchida

Toppenish - Irene Uchida, Wife, mother, grandma, sister and auntie, 81 of Toppenish, WA passed away on August 27, 2018 at the Toppenish Nursing Home. Irene Kobata was born on November 14, 1936 in O' Brian, WA to Sam and Michiko Kobata. The family lived in Stratford, WA where they farmed. Irene was raised in Japan. She got her early education in Japan. When she was 12 years old she came back to the United States to live with her family and finished her education at Wilson creek. On May 7, 1961 Irene Kobata married Masaharu Uchida at the Yakima Buddhist Church. They lived in Wapato, where they raised their family. Irene worked for the Uchida farms and also worked at the Wapato School District for many years, until her health made her retirement. Mom enjoyed cooking, playing cards, horseracing and watching the cooking channel. She also enjoyed watching her grandson playing sports. Irene is survived by her daughter Matha Conradt-Uchida of Mabton, WA, two sons Perry Uchida of Yakima, WA, Earl (Susana) Uchida of Chicago, IL, One brother Kay Kobata of Stratford, WA; four grandchildren, Michael Conradt of Portland, Or, Brandon Uchida of California, Elizabeth Ford and Natalia Uchida both of Chicago, IL. One sister-in law Kimiko Mori of Seattle, WA; three brothers in-laws, Tamio (Takako) Uchida of Maple Valley, WA, Shig (Jean) Uchida of Kent, WA, Sam (Masako) Uchida of Seattle, WA and to many nieces and nephews to name. She is preceded in death by her Spouse Masaharu Uchida, her parents Sam and Michiko Kobata, Stepmother Norma Kobata, one brother Roy Kobata, her in laws Kaichiro (Harry) and Yoshiko Uchida, two brother in laws Aki Uchida, Yoshio Uchida, one brother in law Hideo Mori, one sister-in law Nancy Uchida. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday October 20, 2018 at the Yakima Buddhist Church in Wapato, 212 west 2nd. Street Wapato, WA 98951. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to lower valley hospice. Valley Hills Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
