Gracie Medina

January 9, 1951 — January 8, 2019

It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Graciela "Gracie" Medina. Gracie passed away on January 8th, 2019 in Granger, WA. The people that knew Gracie knew her as a loving, caring, supportive mother, friend, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, crocheting, watching game shows, doing puzzles, coloring with her grandkids and going to Legends Casino. Gracie loved holding summer classes and activities for her grandkids and great-grandkids at her home. It always brought her joy when they would call her Grandma Teacher. Gracie’s family and friends will forever remember her for her complete love of the holiday’s like Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas; where she decorated her home from floor to ceiling. It was a true feeling of happiness for everyone who ever stepped into her home during holidays.   Gracie was preceded in death by her late husband, and the love of her life, Rito Medina who she met in 1971. They got married a year later in 1972. The happy couple chose to settle down in Granger, WA and start their family. They had many wonderful years in the Yakima Valley.   Gracie Medina is survived by her daughters; Felipa (Nacho) Medina of Sunnyside WA, Rebecca Alcaraz of Granger WA, Carmela (Beto) Gallegos of Grandview WA, Emma Medina of Portland OR, Marisela Medina of Granger WA, and Viola (Alex) Medina of Sunnyside WA, as well as her only son; Jaime Medina of Tri-Cities WA. Gracie also leaves behind 25 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernado and Maria Olvera, her sister, Mary Helena Resendez, and her granddaughter Annalise Medina.   A viewing for Gracie Medina is scheduled for Tuesday, January 15th at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside WA, from 2-6:00 p.m. A rosary in her honor will follow at 6:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 16th, at Valley Hills Funeral Home at 11:00 am followed by Graveside at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA.   The family would also like to thank Dr. Carolyn O'Connor from Prosser Clinic and nurse Sarah from Heartlinks Hospice & Palliative Care for their compassionate care during Gracie last month’s on earth.
