Virginia Frances Godfrey
Virginia Frances Godfrey passed away in her home on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. She was born on October 30, 1922 in Tacoma, Washington to Francis and Marie Goettling.

Virginia and her husband Lee moved to Zillah Washington in 1978 and founded the Valley Hills Mortuary in 1980, which they operated together until their retirement in 1995. While in Zillah she was an active member of the Christian Church and the Zillah Garden Club.

Upon their retirement, they moved to Desert Aire, Mattawa, and began to spend their winter months in Yuma, moving back to Yakima in 2005.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years - Lee of Yakima; three daughters: Kathleen Holmes of Coos Bay, Oregon; Barbara Connell of Wichita, Kansas; and Susan White of Yakima, Washington; three sons: Richard Connell of Carlsbad, California; David Godfrey of Colville, Washington; and Mark Godfrey of Zillah, Washington. She had 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bob and Ralph Goettling.

Viewing is on Sunday September 18th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Services will be held on Monday September 19th at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 500 North Nathaniel Lane, Zillah, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yakima Valley Memorial Home Care & Hospice in her memory.

May the Lord bless and comfort you in this time of need. I met Virginia about four or five years ago and she was such a blessing in my life. She was so friendly and a very lovely woman with a great testimony. I will be praying for your family.
