Gerald Joseph (Jerry) Weimer passed away on October 8, 2009 in Yakima from a long battle with lymphoma. He was surrounded by his family during his passing at home.
Gerald was born on September 19, 1926 to Joseph B. and Ida M. (St. Aubin) Weimer in Yakima, Washington. Jerry lost his brother and sister during his early childhood. He was raised and received his education here in the Yakima Valley. In 1947 he married Marion G. Grenz of Yakima and they have three children: daughter Linda L. Lee and husband Jim of Cowiche, son Robert E. Weimer and wife Cheryl and daughter Diana L. Thayer of Yakima, and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Gerald owned and operated a roofing and insulation company for 12 years, then started the Kold King Door Co. specializing in apple warehouse storage doors, which are located throughout Washington, Oregon, California, and international to South Korea, Poland, Canada and Mexico. He operated the door business until his retirement in 1992, with his son taking over the ownership.
During his active working years he found time to bowl, and he won the city championship in 1968. His golf game was acceptable, and he enjoyed the good fellowship time. His hobby was restoring old autos; a 1936 Ford took twenty years, and the other five cars only took twelve years. Now they are spread throughout the States.
Private graveside services will be held. Send condolences at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
My name is Phil Carvo and I just wanted to say I am sorry to hear about Jerry. I have known Him for many years thru my dad, Al Carvo. I last saw Jerry at the Thunderbird casino last year.
He was a great guy and I will miss him. One of the "old school guys" that built this community. We could sure use more like him.
Sorry for your loss. Phil
