Bob L. Mathews, 75, of Yakima, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 8 in Yakima.
Bob was born July 24, 1934 in Glenwood, Iowa. He moved to the Yakima Valley at an early age and has resided here for over 50 years. He Married DeLois Adams on June 19, 1957 in Yakima. Together they raised their family in Yakima while Bob worked at Smooty’s Hardware and then Stein’s Ace Hardware.
Bob was a wonderful and loving Christian husband, father and friend. He loved his Lord and enjoyed teaching Sunday School as well as being the head usher at his church. Bob enjoyed the outdoors and sharing this love with his children while hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed leather-crafting.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dee of Yakima; two sons and their wives, Marshall and Randi Mathews of Puyallup and Brad and Delores Mathews of Milwaukie, OR; a daughter and her husband, Kim and Mark Encinas of Yakima; two brothers, Jack Mathews of Richland, WA and Harold Gene Mathews of Salt Lake City, UT; two sisters and their husbands, Shirley and Jack Jinkins of Yakima and Carol and Darrell Mangum of Federal Way; 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Yakima Chapel of Valley Hills Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. at Apostolic Faith Church, 501 S. 2nd St., Yakima with burial to follow in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
