Geraldine Huylar
Geraldine L. Steinmetz Huylar, born May 2, 1939 passed away on October 12, 2011 at 10:00am at the age of 72. To her friends and family she was known as “Dolly.”

Dolly was born and raised in Wapato and graduated from Wapato High School in 1957. Dolly was popular, pretty, a homecoming queen, was voted “Legs” by her classmates and had many dear friends. Immediately after graduation, Dolly went to work at Savin Sandys in the meat department with Jim Thomas. It was at Savin Sandys that she met the love of her life, Glen Huylar, and were soulmates for 53 years.

Dolly and Glen were married in 1959 and started their cattle ranch. Dolly supported her husband in the business for many years and eventually became employed outside the home.

Dolly’s priority in her life was always FAMILY. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She had a warm heart and a loving soul.

As a mother, her love and dedication knew no limits. She loved her children fully and unconditionally. She never hesitated in giving everything she had to provide them with a life full of love, support, acceptance and happiness.

As a wife, Glen’s whole life revolved around Dolly. They had so many treasured experiences and memories of their 53 years together. She educated Glen in raising and loving their children and life, was a great cook, kept their life organized and established family traditions.

Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Kathryn Steinmetz; her inlaws; Clyde and Kathryn Huylar, all of Toppenish.

She is survived by her husband, Glen Huylar; their four children, daughter, Tammy Huylar of Selah; son, Greg (Jodee) Huylar of Yakima; son, Michael (Shelly) Huylar of Maple Valley; daughter, Kim (David) Richter of Seattle; grandchildren, Gillian and Blake Huylar; brothers, Don Steinmetz of Selah, Dick (Bev) Steinmetz of Yakima, and sister, Linda Steinmetz Robinson of Yakima. She also had many nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.

Dolly will be greatly missed. Goodbye Sweet Dolly
