Jason Theodore Baldoz
Jason Theodore Baldoz, age 34, was torn from his family on October 26, 2009 by a senseless act of violence. Jason was born May 12, 1975 to Daniel and Diane Baldoz. Jason began his education in Yakima, then moved to San Francisco, California, where his interaction with the San Francisco 49ers led him to a lifelong love of the team. Jason and his family lived in Ohio for five years, moving back to Yakima in 1989. Jason attended Franklin Middle School and Davis High School.

Jason worked at various restaurants in Yakima including Sea Galley, Santiago’s, The Olive Garden, and Red Lobster. For the past few years, Jason worked as a bartender at Howard Johnson’s. Jason loved working in the restaurant business because it allowed him to meet people and make new friends. Jason never met a stranger and loved everyone. He was generous and always looked for the good in everyone. Jason was very proud of his Filipino and Hispanic heritage. He loved to cook for his family, but there wasn’t much he loved more than a family get-together with lots of food. Jason spent all year looking forward to his family’s annual trip to Wapato Point at Lake Chelan. Jason’s most treasured time was the time he spent with his children. He was a hands-on dad who loved playing with his kids.

Jason was taken from his oldest son, Giovanni Baldoz; his long-time companion, Maria Maravilla; their son, Anthony J. Baldoz; and Gerardo and Bethani Castillo, whom he loved like his own children. He was also taken from his mother, Diane Baldoz of Selah; his father, Daniel M. Baldoz, Jr. of Renton; his brother, Daniel (Jennifer) J. Baldoz III of Puyallup; his grandparents, Jim and Joan Duke of Selah; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and a niece who loved him dearly and will miss him forever.

Waiting in heaven for Jason are his grandparents, Jess and Melba Withrow and Daniel and Juliet Baldoz and his sister, Lisa Baldoz.

Viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Terrace Heights. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Breakthrough Christian Center, 15 N. 7th Avenue. Burial will follow at West Hills Memorial Park. A reception will be held at the Selah Civic Center following burial.

Jason’s family would like to thank the ICU staff at Yakima Regional for their quality care and compassion. Our hearts are broken by our loss. Jason, we will never forget your incredible laugh and smile.
Send Condolences.
Diane, DJ, and family, my heart goes out to all of you. I cannot imagine the sorrow you must be suffering at the loss of Jason. Just know that God has a reason for everything even though it seems difficult to understand. He has a special purpose for Jason. Aunt Di, DJ, Uncle Danny, Reina and the boys,

Words can't express the sorrow that I have for you all. J was my little brother. I always loved the summers because I knew I was going to have so much fun with both DJ and J when they came to visit grandma and grandpa. J is in a better place away from all the pain and suffering. He's know looking down at us with his big beautiful smile. I love you J and will miss you dearly.

Love Always,
Stephanie, Breezy, and Khi Khi Baldoz

At the rising of the sun and at its going down,
We remember them.

At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter, We remember them.

At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring,
We remember them.

At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer,
We remember them.

At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn,
We remember them.

At the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember them.

As long as we live, they too will live;
for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.

When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember them.

When we are lost and sick at heart,
We remember them.

When we have joys we yearn to share,
We remember them.

When we have decisions that are difficult to make,
We remember them

When we have achievements that are based on theirs,
We remember them.

As long as we live, they too shall live,
for they are a part of us, as we remember them.

I just want to extend my sympathy to the family of Jason. I remember hanging out with him in high school and having him be my waiter at multiple restaurants after high school. He was a great guy with a smile that would light up the room. He went above and beyond to say hello when he saw you, ask how you were doing and what was new in your life. He will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.
