Margaret Mae Mattson
Margaret was born at Mountain Home, Idaho, the middle child and grew up on Castle Creek in Southern Idaho. She graduated from the College of Idaho, Caldwell, Idaho. She was one of two women allowed to take flight training under the C.P.T. Civil Pilots Training Program in 1941.

She married James Keyes and had 2 children, Karl Keyes and Karolyn Keyes Kraft. Following the death of James Keyes she moved her family to Portland, OR to begin an elementary school teaching career. She met and married Webster Mattson and moved to Yakima, WA where he had an orchard. She continued teaching until her retirement. Retirement provided the opportunity to continue some of her favorite things, bowling with friends and going to the state tournament several times and playing more golf with the ladies club at Sun Tides Golf Course and Web. She started quilting and made beautiful hand quilted Christmas socks for her children and grandchildren. She also began to research her family tree finding out she had relatives in England and took a trip to meet them and continued her genealogy quest.

Margaret is survived by her children Karl Keyes and Karolyn Keyes Kraft, 13 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Her family wishes to thank her compassionate care givers at Landmark Care Center, especially Glee.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Seattle Children Foundation, PO Box 5371 S-200, Seattle, WA 98145.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Valley Hill Funeral Home, July 9, 2011 at 1 pm.
Send Condolences.
