Jean Elizabeth Glover Wallis, 89, passed away on July 9, 2011. She was born on August 6, 1921 to Henry Burt Glover and Mary Margaret Sinclair Glover in Los Angeles, CA.
Jean graduated from Huntington Park High School and took college courses at Oregon State University. She was married to Charles Parker Wallis, Jr. She worked many years at the Plaid Door, run by St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Yakima and served as Treasurer for several years. She also spent time as a substitute teacher and housewife. Jean was an active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Yakima. She did a lot of needlework: sewing, needlepoint, knitting, cross-stitch, and tailoring. She greatly enjoyed investing in the stock market; something she learned from her father. She also enjoyed genealogy, reading, gardening, painting, and volunteering.
Jean is survived by her husband, Charles P. Wallis, of Yakima; daughter, Mary Jean Wallis Mueller, of Kent, WA; and grandchildren, Jonathan, Anna, James, and Michael.
She is preceded in death by her son, Charles P. Wallis, III; brother, Henry B. Glover; and son-in-law, Peter Mueller.
Visitation will be offered from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011, at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. Graveside services will be held also on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the burial should meet at the cemetery.
