Alan F. Tinkham
Alan Fred Tinkham, 53, passed away at his home in Selah on Friday July 8, 2011. He was born on August 30, 1957 to Dale and Evelyn (May) Tinkham in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Alan was educated in Minneapolis, Florida, and Yakima. After his graduation from West Valley High School in 1975 he joined the United States Navy. He was a Sea Bee, or mobile construction battalion, and shared many fond memories of his time served. He was proud to serve his country.

Alan worked for his father's trucking company, Tinkham Trucking. Driving truck became his career. Soon after he was employed with Yakima County and worked there until his passing.

He married Deborah Kirby in 1989 and they had two beautiful daughters. They divorced in 1994. His girls remained the light of his life. Anyone can be a dad but it takes a special man to be a father.

He had a contagious smile and when he laughed it came from his soul. When he was around you knew it. You could hear him over a crowd.

Dad was an avid biker. He took many trips to Sturgis and across the country. If there was a chance to ride, he did. The road of life twists and turns. No two directions are the same, yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.

Al became a member of the Unforegiven Motorcycle Club. He was passionate about the brotherhood and was a loyal member. They became a family to him.

Big Al is survived by his daughters, Natalie Tinkham of Oceanside, CA, Nacole Davis of West Monroe, LA; step-daughter, Rachel (Mike) DeMarco of Union Gap; and three brothers, Dennis (Sally) Tinkham of Luck, WI, Dale (Pat) Tinkham of Oakdale, MN, and his faithful dog, Spike. His mother and father, Dale and May Tinkham, preceded him in death as well as his siblings, Leslie and Dennis Tinkham. We love you Big Daddio. See you soon.

Visitation will be offered on Friday, July 15, 2011, from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Casual attire is requested. A reception / potluck will follow at 12 noon at the Eagles. All are welcome.
Send Condolences.
I was a high school friend of Alan's who lost touch the last few years. I had always expected to see him again. Please accept my condolences. I will be attending the service.
