Betty Reiss
Betty Reiss died on July 8, 2011, just a few days shy of her 92nd birthday. Betty was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 14, 1919. She was the youngest member of her family, the first and only one born in the United States. Her father and mother, Max and Pauline Kupersmith, and Betty's five older brothers and sisters came to America early in the last century from Kupin, in what is now the Ukraine. Betty attended NYU and graduated from the Pratt Institute in New York City. She met and married Milton Z. Reiss, who served in the US Army in France and Germany during World War II. Milton and Betty raised their family in Brooklyn, NY and Attleboro, MA. They moved to Washington to join their children and grandchildren in 1986. Milton died in 1988. Betty moved to Yakima in 2008 to be near her family here.

Betty is survived by her loving family: her two sons and their wives, Michael and Shelly and Paul and Beatrice; her five grandchildren and their spouses, Josh and Angel, Yuki and Chris, Nina and Randy, Morgan and Oscar, Aya and Nicho; her eight great-grandchildren, Tommy, Anika, Eliot, Katya, Emma, Juniper, Nadia and Tula, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of a service, the family will gather later this summer to honor Betty. We miss her.
Send Condolences.
