William H. Betsch, 89, of Yakima, passed away on July 28, 2011, at Crescent Health Care in Yakima. He was born on July 9, 1922 to Benedict and Juliana (Antone) Betsch in Granger, WA.
William was born and raised in Granger, WA. He was married to Louella Faye Thomson Betsch. He lived for many years in the Seattle/Renton area and moved back to the Yakima area in 1985. He served as a Seaman 1st Class for the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Ward. He worked various jobs including for Pacific Car & Foundry, Renton Auction, Longacres Racetrack, Fornies, and Granger Brick & Clay. He worked for 27 years as a mechanic for Boeing and most recently worked with Senior Chore Service. He enjoyed singing, fishing, church activities, family parties, gardening, and baseball.
William is survived by his daughter, Cheryl McCullough, of Renton, WA; two sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, Ryan McCullough and Stephanie Claxton; and six great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jana, and Caleb McCullough, and Jacob, William, and Sydney Claxton.
He is preceded in death by his wife and twelve siblings.
Visitation will be offered on Saturday, August 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Central Assembly of God in Yakima. Funeral services with Military Honors will be offered also on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
