Glen Schick
Walter Glen Schick, age 83, went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2012. Glen was born in Lafeyette, Ohio on July 26, 1927 to Cloyde and Mildred Schick.

Glen lived in Ohio for many years until 1978, when he met his wife Joyce. He moved to Granger, Washington where he enjoyed raising milk cows, gardening and farming. Glen had a knack for hunting down large quantities of local produce, which he would generously give to anyone who needed it. During the summer months, he kept everyone well supplied with cucumbers and corn. Everyone knew that if you took a ride with Glen, it was going to take awhile, because he would stop and talk to just about everyone he met along the way. Glen never knew a stranger and helped anyone who needed a helping hand.

In 1979, Glen and Joyce opened their hearts and home to provide a loving home for foster children who needed someone to love them. Together, they cared for many, many children.

Glen is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joyce Schick, his sister Arlene (Merlin) Gerdeman; brother Howard (Colleen) Schick; sons Loren Schick and Brandon Schick; grandson Jimmy; and a great-grandson.

He is also survived by his step-children Teresa, Billy, Debbie, Gwen, Shelby, Kevin and Robin as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many beloved foster children who lovingly call him “Pops”.

Glen was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth, one nephew and his step-daughter Cynthia.

Funeral services are 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Glen will be laid to rest following the service at the Zillah City Cemetery. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah is in care of the arrangements. Online condolences can be sent at www.valleyhillsfh.com
