Harold W. Davis was reunited with the love of his life on January 11, 2012. Harold was born September 26, 1919 to Ora and Addie Davis in Hartline, WA. As a child his family moved to the Yakima Valley area and he resided there for the rest of his life. On November 20, 1939 Harold was united with Fayne Parks in wedded matrimony. Harold and Fayne lived their lives joyously serving God and his children through their church and many service organizations. They loved traveling together and belonged to NCT travel club. Always a man of integrity, he was loved by all who knew him. He never had anything but a kind word for anyone.
Harold was a charter member of the Buena First Baptist Church, where he attended services regularly. He was a Past Master of Meridian Masonic Lodge and a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Yakima and received the tremendous honor of the 33rd Degree on October 24th, 1999. He was also Past Patron of Illihee Chapter of Eastern Star. Harold worked as a truck driver his entire adult life. He was drafted for WWII, but the draft board asked him if he would remain in the U.S. because of the dire need for truck drivers in the states. He had many stories from his time on the road and was always willing to share them. Harold made friends easily and could strike up a conversation with anyone. In 1984 he retired from R.H. Bowles Co. where he got to work with his son Dick for over 10 years. He was also a volunteer fireman for over 30 years.
Harold is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Rick Shaul. He is also survived by two daughters-in-law, which he considered to be his own daughters Ellen Davis and Betty Jo Davis. He is also survived by 6 grandsons Greg, Chad, Doug, Don, Dan and Steven. He also had many great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren and had a very special relationship with all of them. He always supported his children and grandchildren in their endeavors. He was so proud of his family members and bragged about them to his friends all the time
He was preceded in death by his wife Fayne in 2007, his son Dick in 2001, and his son Paul in 1981.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to one of the two organizations he held close to his heart- Buena First Baptist Church or Toppenish-Meridian Lodge. This can be done through Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Online condolences can be left at www.valleyhilsfh.com
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 14th at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah with Masonic graveside services to follow at Zillah Cemetery. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah is in care of the arrangements.
Harold was a wonderful man. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met. God's love was always present in his life. He lived and loved according to God's word. Herold and Fayne were dear friends of my parents, Wendell and Mary Emerson. I will always cherish the memories of those special times together. He will always be loved and greatly missed by all. Our love and prayers to you, the family. Faye and Bob Rice, Tulsa, OK
We were surprised and saddened to hear of your father's passing. We did not hear of his death until Sunday morning or we would have attended his service. He was always pleasant and helpful and we remember him as a good husband and father. Please accept our apology for missing his service and know that our thoughts prayers are with you. Pauline Thomas and family.
