Horace Alfred Clark
Horace Alfred Clark passed away December 29th, 2011 surrounded by his family.

Horace was born in Yakima on February 13th, 1922 to Vern and Pearl Clark. Horace was raised in Tieton, WA and graduated from Tieton High School in 1941.

Horace married Sylvia Hendrickson on June 20th, 1942.

He enlisted in the Navy in August of 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater on the USS Vicksburg as a Chief Radio Technician receiving two Bronze stars and a good conduct medal.

After his discharge in 1945 Horace worked for the CAA on radar installations in the Northwest. He moved back to the Tieton area in 1948 purchasing the Hendrickson farm. He also serviced TV's, radios and installed tall TV towers in the early years of being an orchardist. During the following years they raised three children and were active in the Tieton Presbyterian church and the local Boy Scouts.

After selling the orchards in 1976 Horace retired and built a home in Gleed. He enjoyed handcrafting wood furniture, cabinets and family treasures. Horace and Sylvia spent their retirement time traveling around the US with their trailer enjoying camping and spending time with their friends and family.

Horace is survived by his wife Sylvia, his sister Jessamine DeJong, three children Sherry Mclain of Oregon City, OR, Robert (Marlene) Clark of Montesano, WA, Mark (Stephanie) Clark of Yakima, WA, nine grandchildren Kristine Dillon, Karmen Carlson, Kevin Weeks, Aimee McGuire, Joseph Clark, Jennifer Clark, Anna-Marie Clark, Benjiman Clark and Ryan Clark. Nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Memorial services are being held Monday January 2nd at 10:00 AM in the Orchard Park Retirement Community and also at the Tieton Presbyterian Church on January 2nd at 2:00 PM.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Yakima VFW to facilitate their rebuilding.
