March 31, 1945 - August 26, 2011
"Soon you will read in the newspaper that I am dead. Don't believe it for a moment. I will be more alive than ever before."- D.L. Moody
Kathryn is alive, restored and complete in the presence of the Lord today. She was born March 31, 1945 to Edward and Marie Sholseth in Tacoma, WA. The family moved to the valley in 1949 where she grew up. Kathryn graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1963 and shortly afterward married Laurence Sizer. The couple established a farm in the Granger area where they raised six children.
Kathryn was a homemaker for many years. When her children were older, she began volunteering her time with the Granger CARE group, organizing and creating parade floats which won many awards. Another major part of Kathryn's life was being a care giver to her parents for many years. She was a generous and passionate person who always pulled for the underdog.
Things that brought enjoyment to Kathryn were playing pranks, (She always loved a good laugh and had a good sense of humor!), sewing, quilting, playing Zilch, gardening and spending time with friends and family. If it wasn't fun, she didn't want to do it!
Although Kathryn's time on earth was not as long as her loved ones desired, she is presently enjoying the company of her husband Larry as well as her mother and father. Her absence is not felt without sadness, however, all grief and loss is overcome by the hope in Jesus Christ. Those who believe in this truth look forward to seeing Kathryn again, for earthly death is not the end, it is just the beginning.
Kathryn's legacy includes her six children: Rosemary (Mark) Puyear of Spokane, Sharon (Randy) DuFord of Zillah, Darlene Sizer of Spokane, Daniel (Michelle) Sizer of Arlington, Laura (Brett) Delegard of Spokane, and Donald Sizer of Spokane; as well as 10 grandchildren and also her two sisters: Gladys (John) Nelson of Zillah, and Kathleen (Jeff) Gunvaldson of Yakima. She also has many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The Sizer family would like to extend our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Albert Brady and Yakima Regional Hospice for the kindness and compassionate care given to our mother.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 30th at 11 am at Christian Worship Center in 204 Cheyne Road, Zillah.
