Patsy passed away on August 28, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in Yakima, WA, from complications of double pneumonia. She was born on May 13, 1948 to Adam and Lucille Krill in Yakima, WA. The family moved to Wenatchee, WA where she made several lifelong friends, including her best friend Lida Gill. She married Gerry Newman in 1967 and gained 2 stepsons, Kelly and Wayne. She then gave birth to her daughter Jill. She later moved to Yakima, WA to marry William James Petrie and added another stepson, William Bruce, and three stepdaughters, Stephanie, Susan, and Shelly to her family. Pat and Bill were married for 27 years before Bill died from cancer in 2001. Patsy remarried Gerry Newman in 2002 and moved to Wenatchee for 5 years before returning to Yakima to live near her family. Patsy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1998 and fought hard to maintain her independence before moving in with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter in 2010.
She worked as a bookkeeper for FMC and NC Machinery for many years. Patsy enjoyed horseback riding when she lived in Cottonwood Canyon and always enjoyed tending her flowers. She lived riding in old cars in parades in Wenatchee, and she had a soft heart for any stray animal, especially cats. She had a keen fashion sense and it was no secret that she loved Elvis.
Patsy was preceded in death by both parents and her second husband, William James Petrie. She is survived by her daughter Jill (Mike) Wallace and granddaughter Rebekah Wallace of Yakima and two sisters, Myrna (Jack) Beeson of Yakima, WA and Betty Hand of Oklahoma, stepsons Kelly Newman of Arlington, WA, Wayne (Kim) Newman of East Wenatchee, WA, Tony Newman of Marysville, WA. William Bruce (Glenda) Petrie of Yakima, stepdaughters Stephanie (Dave) Toler, Sue Baer and Shelly Peterson all of Yakima. Grandchildren are Henry Newman, Andrew Newman, Josh Newman, Mandy Phillips, Eric (Amber) Guerrettaz, Janel (Sean) Craig, Holly Petrie, and Amy Peterson. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be at 9:00 with the funeral at 10:00 on Saturday, Sept. 3rd at Valley Hills at 2600 Business Lane in Yakima, WA. Burial will follow at West Hills Cemetery at 11800 Douglas Road in Yakima. A reception will be held afterward at Jack and Myrna Beeson's home at 709 So. 60th Avenue in Yakima.
