Catherine Coe
Our amazing, beloved mother Catherine Jeanne Fuchs Coe passed away August 28, 2009 with her daughters at her side. She leaves a legacy of love and devotion to her family.

Catherine was born Feb. 8, 1920 to Vernon H. Fuchs and Anna Mae Capper in Odebolt, Iowa. The family moved with all their possessions in an open rail car to Parker Heights to the pioneer homestead of A.F. Ingalls her maternal grandfather. She grew up an only child helping to carve the fruit ranch from sagebrush. Hunting and fishing trips became family traditions. Horseback riding was as normal as playing the harp and piano. She was adventurous, ready for action and never complained.

Catherine, or Cay as she was referred to, reminisced about attending grade school in Parker Heights and riding to Wapato for High School in an old wooden bus. Despite hardships of the times she spoke often of her enjoyment of friends and life in the rural community of Parker Heights. She attended the University of Washington and Washington State University, pledging the Sigma Kappa Sorority.

While in college she met and married Gene R. Coe of Plaza, Wa. His military career took them to Los Banos, Ca. where their first child, Michael was born. They returned to farm in Parker Heights raising 3 more children, Mitch, Cindy and Sandy. Cay devoted herself to her children and the farm. There were always Boy Scout Troops, Campfire Girls, FFA, 4-H and horseback riding activities she supported. She helped build strong foundations under her children's lives as well as other youth in the community. She also supported the community through Donald District Women's Club and the Parker Heights Presbyterian Church. Cay then enjoyed a 30 year career in retail jewelry sales in Yakima before retiring. After retiring, she loved reading and traveling to horse shows with her daughter, Sandy.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Anna Fuchs, and her sons, Michael and Mitchel Coe. She is survived by daughters Cindy (Jim) Ebberson, Pasco, Wa.; Sandra (William) Bourgeois, Wapato, Wa.; and daughter-in-law Jayne Coe, Seattle, Wa. She is also survived by grandchildren Joy (Carl) Curriera, Darin (Monique) Ebberson, Sarah Jane (Jack) Egan, Ian Coe, and Julie Coe (Scott Kramer) and 4 great grandchildren.

We send a tremendous amount of thanks and gratitiude to the staff and caregivers of Garden Village for taking such good care of our precious mother Catherine.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parker Heights Presbyterian Church, Wapato, Wa.

At our mother's request, a private family grave service will be held.

Send condolences at valleyhillsfh.com. Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima is in charge of arrangements.
Send Condolences.
I did not know Catherine well but I was able to visit with her at the Garden Village when I visited a friend. She truly was a nice lady. I will miss our little chats.
Sincerely,
Nellie Fletcher
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

Sandy,
I am so sorry to read of your mother Cay's passing. I have such fond memories of her so many years ago when we were young. She was a great mother. I always enjoyed going to your home and visiting with her or going to see her at Value Mart. She always made time for your friends. She had a long, good life and you were truly blessed.
My sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Sandy,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Mother. She was an amazing Mother of Great Children most especially you. When I attended my Aunts Jeans Wade 90th birthday party a few days after Christmas in Yakima I meet up with a Munson that told me your mother had passed. I'm very sorry for your loss. Nearly 10 years ago I lost both of my parents and know the empty feeling of loosing a parent.

Know that I'm thinking of you and I hope that each day gets better for you and your family.

Always a special long ago friend!
